Main Purpose of Job

Provide administrative support and serve as a member of the team that assists the Principal of a progressive school for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and assist in the management of the operations of the school.

POSITION DUTIES

Assist the Principal with the operations of the Frederick campus.  In addition to supporting the Principal, this includes serving students, families, teachers, staff and other stakeholders, including outside agencies.  Duties include assistance in maintaining school safety, school records, daily operations, student and staff well-being, including attendance, performance reports and transportation, admissions, and compliance with state and federal expectations which includes managing audits and preparing reports.  This position will also be involved with arranging school functions, preparing and proofreading school communications, and coordinating the Principal’s and the school’s schedule.  The Principal’s office supports and collaborates closely with the Superintendent’s Office, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, MSD’s Columbia Campus Principal’s office, and the offices of individual school programs: Family Education, Elementary, Middle School, High School, Career & Technology Education, and Physical Education, and Directors of Curriculum, Data and Assessment, IEPs, Student Support Services, and Audiology & Related Services.  May be asked to assume other duties as assigned by the School Principal or by the Dean of Student Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Five years of experience in administrative or professional work.  Strong English writing skills required.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of or willingness to learn American Sign Language.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560 – 5-568)
