Main Purpose of Job

The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking individual to work at the SPS HelpDesk to assist with system user support calls. Successful candidate will function in a support role in the Division, and shall be able to work independently. Specifically, duties involve resetting system passwords, walking employee through system processes, following up to make sure issues have been resolved, and providing feedback about the system. Core office hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, for an 8 hour a day schedule during theses times. May consider part time schedule for the right candidate.

POSITION DUTIES

The Shared Services Division within the OPSB, DBM, is seeking an individual to work at the SPS HelpDesk to assist with system user support calls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Previous helpdesk support experience, current software experience with Google, Excel and Word.  One year of professional experience researching materials using the internet and explaining process steps to others.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience researching materials using the internet
  • Interest in learning new software application
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and maturity
  • Proficient at intermediate level in MS Office including Word, Excel

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, sand experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

BENEFITS

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year. 

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
