LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
Generates drafts of Circuit Court and District Court lawsuits with itemizations. Gathers various exhibits and documentation necessary to prove the State's cases.
Studies and generates drafts of defaulted payment contracts for filing in various Maryland courts.
Produces, researches and completes Tax Refund Interception Jul. - Nov. Program (TRIP), Tax Refund Offset Program (TROP), vendor and salary offset investigations, as well as, general investigations following agency procedures by meeting assigned deadlines and according to a pre-determined schedule. When requested, Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund investigations will also be completed.
Signs, as CCU's Affiant, all typed lawsuits and complaints for confessed judgment.
Expedites determination of assets of deceased debtors upon receipt of notices of their death from the Register of Wills offices. Files claims with the courts.
Performs skip tracing skills to obtain current information on debtor such as new addresses employer and wages in order to prepare the account for lawsuit drafting.
Generates abatement requests for unrecoverable debts on as needed basis.
Communicates with debtors advising them, in detail, of their obligations to the State of Maryland and of actions afforded to the Central Collection Unit by law.
This is a special appointment position that will serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at a rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.
2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of experience in Microsoft Office.
Two (2) years of experience with Civil Court Process.
