Main Purpose of Job

The Deputy Director of Acute Care for the HealthChoice and Acute Care Administration (HACA) in the Medicaid Program is responsible for managing three divisions and the associated policy development, implementation and compliance with all State and federal regulations, and administrative oversight for the Division of Hospital Services, the Division of Dental, Clinics and Lab and the Division of Children’s Services.    

The Division of Hospital Services is responsible for the policy development and the regulatory compliance for hospital services for fee-for-service Medicaid recipients, including oversight of a utilization control contractor that preauthorizes hospital services. 

The Division of Dental, Clinics and Labs is responsible for the policy development and regulatory compliance for the Medicaid fee-for-service programs providing dental, clinic and lab services.  This includes oversight, monitoring and administering the Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program (MHSDP) and contract management of the Medicaid Program’s dental benefits administrator.

The Division of Children's Services is responsible for policy development, management and regulatory compliance of medical and health related services for children enrolled in the State's Medicaid Program, including oversight of a contract for medically fragile children and adults in the Rare and Expensive Case management program.  Additionally, this Division performs provider site visits and medical record reviews of services mandated under the federal EPSDT program. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidate must possess a master's degree with 6 years of professional experience in the health care field, including at least 3 years of experience in the Medicaid Program.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
