Main Purpose of Job

The Director provides public health leadership in promoting maternal and child health in Maryland. Specific programs for which the Director is responsible include: the federal Title X Family Planning Program, the Healthy Teens and Young Adults Initiative, the federal Title V-Section 510 Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program, Title V Section 511 Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting MIECHV Program, and the Title V Section 513 Personal Responsibility and Education (PREP) Program. In addition, this position supports the coordination and administrative activities for the Title V Sections 502-509 Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant. The position provides highly responsible programmatic and administrative work at the level of an experienced program administrator with training and expertise in public health and maternal-child health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional health or human services experience.  Candidates must also possess at least three years of management experience including responsibility for developing budgets; monitoring and tracking expenditures; contract preparation; and staff recruitment, retention and personnel management.   A copy of your resume and college transcripts must accompany your application.  Transcripts may be unofficial.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have at least three years of public health experience, specifically related to maternal and child health initiatives.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
