Main Purpose of Job

These positions offer full-time and part-time internships for college students within the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS). These positions will support staff that work to promote a Maryland where people independently support themselves and their families and where individuals are safe from abuse and neglect. Specialize in one or more human service program areas, such as program planning or evaluation, child support, child welfare, adult services, family investment, aging, energy assistance, state and/or federal compliance.

POSITION DUTIES

Learns to conduct studies and analyses of agency human service programs, procedures, practices and organizations and make recommendations to improve system efficiency and operations; Learns to assist in the administration of a human services program area and/or of an operational unit within an agency; Learns to assist in the planning and implementation of new or revised procedures, practices and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

  • Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. 
  • Currently pursing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualification:

Pursing a bachelor's or master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration or related field.

Good computer skills and experience working with databases and with the Microsoft Suite of Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Mail.

S. you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service if selected for an interview.
