POSITION DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law.
Experience: None.
Note:
1. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in General Attorney classifications or General Attorney specialty codes in the Legal and Kindred field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants apply for this recruitment must meet one of the following below:
Admission to the Maryland Bar
Admission or eligible for admission to the Federal Bar.
Certificate of Good Standing from the Maryland Court of Appeals.
Copy of law school transcript; certificate of good standing from Maryland State Court of Appeals and any other documentation evidencing membership in other bars.
All applicants that meet the minimum and selective qualification will be referred to the hiring manager for interview selection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for interview.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Admission to the Maryland Bar.
2. Admission of eligible for admission to the Federal Bar.
3. Certificate of Good Standing from the Maryland Court of Appeals.
4. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland before completion of the probation period.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS
U.S. Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. Any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing a U.S. Military form DD 214 verifying honorable discharge from service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview). Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of Veterans’ status.
