LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, Maryland

POSITION DUTIES

The primary role of this position is to function as a security officer for the Annapolis Data Center (ADC). This position is responsible for program module moves (Install/1, JCL, Non-Install/1, etc.) and Web migrations from non-production to production libraries. In addition, this position processes all ACF2 logon ID maintenance requests, ACF2 rule change requests, Help Desk tickets related to ACF2, and performs other security-related tasks.

PLEASE NOTE: ITD is responsible for the 24x7x365 support for ADC mainframe, distributed systems, and networks. All ITD employees are available for on-call support. As such, this position is required to occasionally work an off-hour schedule, weekdays prior to 7:30 a.m. and / or after 5:00 p.m., weekends, and holidays. Comp time and flexible work options are available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other information technology related field to include course work in machine or assembler computer languages, and operating system and data communication technology for multipurpose, multi tasking computers.  

Experience: One year of experience maintaining and modifying operating systems for multipurpose, multi tasking computers.  

NOTES: 

  1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other information technology related field to include course work in machine or assembler computer languages, and operating system and data communication technology for multipurpose multi tasking computers may be substituted for the required education. 
  2. One additional year of experience maintaining and modifying operating systems for multipurpose, multi tasking computers may be substituted for the required education.  
  3. Experience operating multipurpose, multi tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on multipurpose, multi tasking computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages; or designing, developing and maintaining communications networks may be substituted for high school on a year for year basis.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year of experience maintaining logon IDs and access rules in CA ACF2 for IBM z/OS.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience migrating code from test environments to production environments in mainframe and server environments.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Employees in this classification may be subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached or will be furnished with a pager.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications for this recruitment will be considered for this opportunity. The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience. Due to the nature of this list, all qualified applicants are placed on an unranked list of candidates and will remain active on this list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
