Main Purpose of Job

The Director of Nursing serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for Western Maryland Hospital Center and is responsible for developing, planning and implementing an integrated program of nursing services to ensure consistency with the Western Maryland Hospital Center’s mission and vision. The Chief Nursing Officer, a member of Senior Leadership, supervises Program Managers for facility programs, which include a Comprehensive Care Unit, High Intensity Medical Program, and Brain Injury Program, and provides strategic nursing management and leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must possess a master's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of medical/clinical nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least three years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity. Qualified candidates must possess a license as a Registered Nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing. A copy of your current RN license must accompany application.

A bachelor's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university, together with seven years of medical/clinical nursing experience (as a registered nurse) of which at least five years must have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity is also qualifying. A Ph.D. in nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of general experience.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) for Hospital and Comprehensive Care facilities and the Joint Commission accreditation standards for the Hospital Accreditation Program and Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program.

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
