Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this part-time position is to lead the Deer's Head Hospital Center's Speech Therapy Department by providing assessment and treatment plans for those patients and residents who need speech pathology services when referred by attending physician. This position will also provide expertise and resources to the rehabilitation team and is responsible for leading and supervising contractual speech therapists.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Set by the Maryland State of Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists under the licensing requirements.

Experience:  Five years of experience as a speech-language pathologist or audiologist.

Note:  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Speech Pathologist and Audiologist classification or Speech Pathologist or Audiologist specialty codes in the Speech Pathology and Audiology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this class must possess a current license form the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists or the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of the current license must accompany the application.

2. Employees in this class must renew their license in accordance with Title 2, Audiology, or Title 19, Speech-Language Pathology, Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland.

3. A Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology is required. A copy of the current certificate must accompany the application.
