A Nutrition Program Trainee is the non-licensed entry level of work providing nutrition services to clients in a public health or community setting. The main purpose of this position is to provide professional services to clients in the WIC Program as per program guidelines and mandates. Services include eligibility determination, health and nutrition screening and referral services, and providing basic health and nutrition information. Employees in this class also issue eWIC benefits to program participants.

Education:    A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods and Human Nutrition, Food Systems Management or Nutrition Education.  A copy of your transcript must be attached to the application.

Experience:  None.

NOTE: 

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classification or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
