LOCATION OF POSITION

Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, Maryland 21228

Main Purpose of Job

In collaboration with the Director, Environment of Care, this position will utilize practical knowledge of fire prevention, health and safety, using all applicable codes, laws and regulations, to provide a safe environment for all patients, staff, visitors, and tenants on the Spring Grove Hospital Center Campus. This position receives general supervision, does not supervise and is considered emergency essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a State high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in safety inspection, safety investigation, or fire prevention.

Notes: 

1. Additional education at an accredited college or university with a concentration in fire protection/science or occupational health and safety technology may be substituted, on a year for year basis, up to two years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Occupational Health and Safety classifications or Occupational Health and Safety specialty codes in the Occupational Health and Safety field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate will have experience with fire extinguishers, testing and repair of fire alarm control systems and sprinklers.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification must provide a telephone number where they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in twenty-four hours a day.
