Introduction

The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) /Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI) /Towson Claim Center, College Park Claim Center, Cumberland Claim Center, Salisbury Claim Center, Hagerstown Adjudication Center, Waldorf Adjudication Center are accepting applications from candidates for the position of UI Intermittent Specialist.

Main Purpose of Job

This position has various work hours from part-time to full-time status based on the workload. The work may also be for varying lengths of duration dependent upon the workload. It may range from a few days, a week, a few weeks to several months. Intermittent employment is limited to forty (40) hours per week and must not exceed more than eighty (80) hours of employment during a biweekly period.

POSITION DUTIES

Employees will work in a Claim Center within the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI). Please be certain to include the location (s) you are willing to work on your application. The work may varying lengths of duration dependent upon the workload. It may range from a few days, a week to full-time. Intermittent employment is limited to forty (40) hours per week and must not exceed more than eighty (80) hours of employment during a biweekly period. Intermittent Claims Specialists needed to render determinations in awarding or denying unemployment insurance claims in a Call Center environment by applying Unemployment Law and Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of full-time employment, or its equivalent, rendering and/or determining eligibility for an Unemployment Insurance Program within DLLR

OR

One year of full-time employment, or its equivalent, in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program.

OR

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of an unemployment insurance overpayment and/or fraud. Any debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
