Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Management Associate is to function as the office manager for the Metro Region and to provide administrative support to the Regional Director. These duties require the use of independent authority and responsibility for facilitating Community Justice divisional management details daily. This position coordinates the administrative operations of the division, to include: personnel matters, statistical projects, time line management, office equipment, timekeeping and leave tracking.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. At least two years’ experience performing secretarial duties for a senior level administrator or executive.

2. At least two years’ experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.

3. At least two years’ experience training staff and inputting data in FMIS, ASSIST or METS. 

4. Experience coordinating and planning meetings and event.

5. Strong written and oral communication skills.

6. Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.

7. Strong time management, priority setting and problem-solving skills.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

You must be a current MD Department of Juvenile Services Employee

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
