Main Purpose of Job
The Speech - Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for providing skilled speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing therapy to patients on the High Intensity Medical (HIM), Comprehensive Care (CC) Programs and Brain Injury. Patients on HIM may be ventilator dependent, require frequent intervention, rehabilitation, or special isolation, along with any number of diagnoses and co-morbidities. Skilled SLP needs are wide-ranging. In addition, this SLP will be responsible for CC, assessing and treating residents' acute needs, as well as developing programs designed to optimize residual cognitive and communication skills. The successful SLP will be an innovative, creative member of the interdisciplinary teams for both Programs, promoting optimal patient outcomes via diverse approaches.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Set by the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists under the licensing requirements.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this class must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists or the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license must be attached to the application.
2. Employees in this class must renew their license in accordance with Title 2, Audiology, or Title 19, Speech-Language Pathology, Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
