Main Purpose of Job

The Health Systems Team, which resides in the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), is responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects that facilitate disease management in health systems, improving health outcomes for Marylanders -- with particular emphasis on diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention. This position supports the Program Manager to coordinate, implement, and evaluate the Quality Improvement in Health Systems contracts and the Diabetes Prevention contracts, including direct oversight for health system related activities. S/he will be responsible for providing critical programmatic support, including grant management, financial tracking, program reporting, and data request tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: Two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects.

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and three years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects for the required education and experience.  A copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) must accompany your application, if applicable. 

2. Candidates may substitute a Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or Health Science for the required education and one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute a Doctorate degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Science or Public Health Policy for the required education and experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have relevant experience in chronic disease prevention and control.  This position will oversee chronic disease prevention and control initiatives in partnership with local jurisdictions to address health system quality assurance.  This position will manage contracts with internal and external partners.  This position will also support Center initiatives by preparing reports, presentations, and other documents, as needed.  Experience managing contracts, preparing reports, and preparing presentations and other documents is also preferred. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
