Main Purpose of Job

The Workers’ Compensation Commission is currently seeking an energetic, detail oriented, self-starter who possesses the ability to review, verify and interpret information in cases, applications and other documents.  Responds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems relative to inaccurate or incomplete information and discrepancies in various records and documents being processed.  This position requires strong customer service skills and is responsible for providing information to the Workers’ Compensation Community.

POSITION DUTIES

CLERK DUTIES: 

o   Respond to inquiries for information about the Agency’s policies and procedures and requests for standard forms and cases via the telephone, by mail and in person.

o   File problem reports identified or found in computer system in accordance with established guidelines;

o   Research records to assist the public

o   Calculate and receive payment for copies made

o   Assures that the date stamp, Xerox, microfilm and computer machines are working effectively   

    

CUSTOMER SERVICE:  

o    Assist with the 4th floor reception desk

o    Assist the public with copies, the use of the File net database, AS400 database and microfilm machine.

o    Direct the public to other agencies  

 

OTHER:  

o     Assures that all forms are current (last version) and that Agency documents used by the public and the Commission are in adequate supply.

o     Performs other job related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience dealing with customers/public in the following manners: telephone, email, written correspondence and face to face contact is preferred.

One year experience in Workers’ Compensation or court environment is preferred

One year experience in reviewing, verifying and interpreting cases
