Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Critical Area Commission is currently accepting applications for an Office Secretary III position. This position provides direct administrative support to the Commission's Chairman and 28-members for the purpose of facilitating Commission business, including serving as main point of contact between the Chairman and the Commission members.
The selected candidate will provide administrative support to the professional staff of the Commission, including the Executive Director and Fiscal Officer. Duties will include arranging logistics for monthly meetings or other educational opportunities, coordinating agendas and mailings, providing minutes, responding to information requests, and ensuring legal notice requirements are met. Duties will also include coordinating records management and making travel arrangements for staff related to training, meetings, or job related workshops. The incumbent will also provide other administrative support as needed for everyday business to meet the Commission's needs as they arise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
If not using the substitution noted above, then one year of experience preparing meeting minutes and note taking is required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional experience providing secretarial support in an office setting.
Demonstrated ability to accurately use MS Word and Excel.
