Main Purpose of Job

The Behavioral Health Administration is seeking a dedicated and committed individual to serve as a Treatment Monitor. The individual in this position will respond to court orders which commit defendants to the Department for the purpose of substance use disorder treatment in accordance with Health General Article 8-507. This position will be responsible for issuing written correspondence, conducting case follow-up and providing technical assistance to the treatment programs. The duties include documenting information in the Salesforce Case Management System, notifying the treatment programs of appropriate contact information related to the case, ensuring receipt of and auditing cases for the required written documentation from the treatment programs. This position will review the continuing care plans and work with treatment programs to help develop strategies that will support the desired treatment outcomes. This position may be required to conduct Health General 8-505 court ordered evaluations. This position will also serve as a backup to the Clearance Coordinator and will collaborate with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) and local detention centers. In order to perform the duties of this position, staff must be knowledgeable of treatment resources, the American Society of Addicted Medicine (ASAM) criteria, and be certified or licensed by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.  A copy of your transcript must be attached to the application.

Experience:  Five years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been in the option for which application is made.

NOTES:

1.  Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2.  Experience in the option must be as follows: professional work related to treatment and services for persons with alcohol or other substance abuse addiction.

3.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

4.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should be knowledgeable of treatment resources, the American Society of Addicted Medicine (ASAM) criteria, and certified or licensed by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
