Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to be part of the statewide PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)Team. This position will be the regional navigator to assist through recruitment, collaboration with community partners, navigation processes, data collection, and target public awareness. This position will increase knowledge, screening for eligibility, and uptake for PrEP.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:     A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.  A copy of your transcript must be attached to the application.

Experience:  None.

NOTES: 

1.  Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science or related behavioral science and one year of experience in planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects for the required education.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have experience with Microsoft Office; specialized training or experience in HIV prevention, Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and/or Sexually Transmitted Diseases; HIV/AIDS counseling and testing; and bilingual in English/Spanish.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
