Main Purpose of Job

This is a full performance position that carries out case coordination and administrative activities to support children, adolescents and families accessing appropriate levels of care. Duties include care coordination for consumers in the Public Behavioral Health System, linkage to services, approval/screening for appropriateness of requested level of care in the Public Behavioral Health System, crisis management, and homelessness prevention. This position is responsible for monitoring, planning, and administration of community-based programs in the Public Behavioral Health System serving individuals with mental health and/or substance use problem, and their families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience: Three years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been professional work related to treatment and services for mentally ill patients.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have experience working with individuals receiving services in the Public Behavioral Health System (PBHS), and knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the Local Behavioral Health Authority (LHBA).
