Allegany County is located in the mountains of beautiful Western Maryland. This office is within a two-hour drive to three major metropolitan areas - Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Pittsburgh, PA.
Main Purpose of Job
The Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR), in cooperation with the Allegany County Government, seeks a strong administrator to direct all program activities of the Allegany County Department of Social Services (ACDSS) including Child Welfare, Family and Adult Services, Financial Assistance Programs, Nutrition Assistance, and Child Support. ACDSS is supported by a strong community based advisory board, operates within a network of strong community partnerships and has an experienced, dedicated and talented staff. The Allegany County DSS, located in the County Seat of Cumberland, MD has a staff of approximately 160 and a $38.8 million operating budget.
Allegany County is a progressive rural county with a population of approximately 73,000 and a median household income of $39,886.
