Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide medical/clinical management, supervision, and review for individuals who are court-ordered to the Maryland Department of Health for evaluation and placement. Duties will include oversight of clinical functions for the Office; program development; participation in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures; provision of clinical guidance to facility coordinators and staff and to community based evaluators; identify best practices; oversee peer review, quality improvement efforts and set clinical standards; manage gun restoration program; and provide representation of the office at court or at settings regarding court ordered placements cases when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidate should possess a Medical Degree from an accredited medical school, Board Certification in General and Forensic Psychiatry, and at least five (5) years of medical practice working with patients with mental illness and substance use disorders. At least three (3) years of that experience must be connected to the legal/criminal justice system. At least two (2) years of the total experience must have been at a supervisory or administrative level in a health care organization or system.

The ideal candidate should also have knowledge about the public sector Maryland Behavioral Health Care system.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be licensed and currently registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State law.  A copy of the current registration must be attached to the application.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
