Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) is looking for a finance professional to provide critical financial expertise to support the agency’s policy-making, financial reviews, and auditing efforts. This role likely involves analyzing financial data, ensuring that health care organizations comply with reporting and regulations, and advising on policies that impact health services in Maryland.

Key responsibilities might include:

1. Financial Review and Analysis: The professional will assist in reviewing financial statements and reports from healthcare organizations, identifying trends, discrepancies, or areas of concern. 
2. Policy Support: The role may involve providing insights and financial analyses that inform the development or modification of policies related to healthcare services and cost control in the state. 
3. Reporting and Recommendations: Providing clear, actionable financial reports and recommendations for policy adjustments through CON and Full Rate Recommendations. 
4. Drug Audit Review: Conduct drug audits for a prescribed list of drugs to ensure data accuracy before implementation of adjustments into hospital rate files. Work closely with hospitals and staff to address data discrepancies or audit findings.

This role will require strong expertise in finance, accounting, or economics, combined with a deep understanding of healthcare systems and the ability to analyze complex financial data to inform decision-making. It may also require knowledge of Maryland regulatory hospital environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting, or health policy. Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or health policy and/or CPA is preferred. Relevant years of experience in subject areas may be substituted for Master’s degree or CPA.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess excellent quantitative and written communication skills, as well as a collegial approach and the ability to lead projects and provide guidance to less-experienced analysts.

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A Resume must be uploaded to application.
