MDH/Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, CCD Bureau/Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), Baltimore, Maryland

The Health Systems Team, which resides in the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)'s Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA)'s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC), is responsible for a dynamic portfolio of projects which facilitate disease management in health systems. The team is also responsible for improving health outcomes for Marylanders, with particular emphasis on diabetes, heart disease, and stroke prevention.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: Two years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects.

Notes: 

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science, or a related behavioral science, and three years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects, for the required education and experience.

2. Candidates may substitute a Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education or Health Science for the required education and one year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute a Doctorate degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Science, or Public Health Policy for the required education and experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications, or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.

The desired candidate should have experience coordinating population-level health promotion programs, in order to prevent and manage chronic diseases. He/she should also have experience with managing grants, financial tracking, and program reporting.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
