Main Purpose of Job

The Director/CEO of Potomac Center is the Chief Executive Officer for an Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF-ID).  The facility is currently licensed for 63 people within the Potomac Center and 32 people for the Forensic Residential Center, Court Involved Residential Program at Potomac Center.  The facility provides direct services, including “active treatment”, to individuals admitted, while working to integrate these consumers into the most integrated setting in the community.  This position provides leadership in resolving legal, programmatic and fiscal issues affecting the Centers, while maintaining compliance with applicable State and Federal standards. 

This position will be responsible for discharging all duties and conducting oneself at all times per all relevant Regulations, Standards, Policies and Procedures including: Departments of Budget and Management and Maryland Department of Health; Title 17 CODE OF MARYLAND REGULATIONS; MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING; Office of Health Care Quality; ICF/ID; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and Sate Operations Manual Code of MD

This position will be required to report on schedule on a regular and continuing basis inclusive of holidays, weekends, overtime, per emergency status requirements, etc; including travel to all State buildings, as required.


Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of professional health or human experience, including four years of experience related to health services for people with developmental disabilities.  Qualified candidates must also possess at least 3 years of experience that includes the supervision of professional staff and/or the management of a DD service delivery unit. 

A related master's degree will substitute for one year of general experience.


This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
