Main Purpose of Job

The Maternal and Child Health Bureau's (MCHB) mission is to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all women, infants, children and adolescents in Maryland. MCHB programs and activities strive to strengthen and support the maternal and child health infrastructure and to assure the availability and accessibility of preventive and primary care services for women, children and adolescents. 

The position assists with oversight and direction of the MCHB Office of Quality Initiatives (OQI), which includes the following programs, among others: Child Fatality Review (CFR), Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR), Babies Born Healthy (BBH), and Child Abuse Medical Providers (CHAMP). This position will have direct oversight of the programs listed above and supervision of program staff. This position will assist with collaboration on data access and analysis, quality improvement, program development, identification of potential grant opportunities, policy development, and performance management.  This position will also be responsible for tracking and understanding CRISP projects across the Bureau to ensure integrated approaches where possible.

Further, this position will be responsible for planning, coordinating and organizing the MCHB's response to new and emerging initiatives, and for organizing strategies across the bureau for programmatic success.  The position will be responsible for assisting with developing policy agendas and writing position statements; identifying potential grant opportunities; and helping ensure system integration across the MCHB in terms of program and new initiatives. 


Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 6 years of professional health or human service experience, including 3 years of experience at the supervisory or managerial level.  Candidate must also possess at least 3 years of public health program management experience.


This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany the application.
