POSITION DUTIES

This position manages three work units that provide services critical to the operation of the Parole Commission.

Directs the daily operation of Post Release Unit to ensure that retake warrants, subpoenas, and warrants related to alternative to incarceration programs are properly and promptly issued. 

Oversees the management of active supervision and delinquent files, and ensures that all files are accurately tracked when processed. 

Ensures that orders to recall warrants are properly and promptly processed in order to avoid unnecessary detention of offenders. 

Ensures that all required data entry is completed timely and accurately and for tracking purposes to include the shared drive. 

Monitors unit activities and resources to ensure maximum efficiency. Communicates with administrators and managers of sister agencies to maximize the efficiency of post-release operations. 

Ensures that correspondence is handled appropriately when preparing responses for the Chairperson or Operations Administrator signature. 

Ensures that statistics are maintained on warrants, recalls, and subpoena cases. 

Directs the prompts release of those inmates who, as a results of the revocation process, have completed an alternative departmental sanctioned program or a period of short term incarceration. 

Informs Commissioners of those offenders who have failed to complete prescribed alternative programs, and promptly reschedules these offenders for revocation hearings. 

Ensures that the NCIC warrant unit is completing warrants within the established timeframes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.  

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must be a current employee of Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
