MDH/Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, Center for Cancer Prevention and Control, Baltimore, Maryland

POSITION DUTIES

This position will serve as the Administrative Assistant within the Center for Cancer Prevention & Control (CCPC) in the Maryland Department of Health (MDH). This position will provide administrative and programmatic support to the CCPC leadership and program staff. The work conducted in this position will require comprehensive knowledge of CCPC programs and skill in working with issues related to policy, procedures and confidential matters.

This position is often the first point of contact that the public has with the CCPC, and will function as the backup administrative support for other CCPC programs, as needed. This position must exercise discretion and judgment, as well as be able to problem solve inquiries and make appropriate referrals within the CCPC and MDH.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience- as defined above- for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Non-Commissioned Officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations, in accordance with agency laws and policies, on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office programs, as well as experience with online supply ordering and travel reservations. He/she should also have proficiency in using Google applications (i.e. Gmail, Google Calendar). 

Finally, the desired candidate should have excellent verbal, organizational and written skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
