Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Makes minor repairs and alterations to buildings.
Removes trash containers, waste containers and recycling containers. Removes waste from buildings.
Assists in moving furniture, supplies, and equipment.
Cleans and disinfects latrines, lavatory fixtures, walls, windows, and light fixtures.
Cuts grass in designated areas and around assigned buildings using power equipment.
Shovels/remove snow, spreads salt, sand, or stone during icy conditions.
Maintains tool such as grass cutting equipment , snow removal equipment and vehicles.
Assists in minor plumbing and heating repairs, heating and air conditioning units, electrical units and systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of the eighth grade.
Experience: Three years of experience in any combination of the maintenance trades provided that at least two years of such experience shall have been primarily with the trades of electricity, plumbing, steamfittings, refrigeration or air-conditioning.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute additional experience in any of the maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required education.
2. A degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a major in Building Maintenance or a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
