Main Purpose of Job

Within the Maryland Department of Health, the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration's mission is to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all Marylanders and their families through provision of public health leadership and through community-based public health efforts in partnership with local health departments, providers, community based organizations, and public and private sector agencies, giving special attention to at-risk vulnerable populations. This position supervises the activities of the Office of Infectious Disease Surveillance and Outbreak Response's Center for Surveillance, Infection Prevention and Outbreak Response in its missions to control or eliminate communicable diseases and outbreaks, provides consultation and training to Office and local health department staff on the management of unusual or complex manifestations of communicable diseases, and serves as a liaison with academic partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant must possess a MD or DO degree from an accredited college or university, Board Certification, and at least two years of medical practice. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Supervisory experience and knowledge and/or experience in infectious disease epidemiology preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be licensed and currently registered with the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law.  A copy of your current license must be attached to the application.

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
