Main Purpose of Job

This position will participate in the training of all new WIC staff. This includes the completion of competency checklists for all temporary staff, as well as the review and management of the competency checklists for all WIC Wise trainees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice, under the licensing requirements for Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Experience: Two years of experience providing professional nutrition or dietetic services.

Notes: 1. A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health or Nutrition from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classification or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel, as well as possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. He/she should also have prior work experience in the Maryland WIC program, in addition to prior training in public or group speaking.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Dietitian/Nutritionist from the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215, prior to permanent appointment.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
