Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Finance and Administrative Services, is currently accepting applications for an Agency Grants Specialist Trainee. The main purpose of this position is to serve as a grants specialist trainee in the Federal Grants section to assist with the accounting for Federal grant expenditures and the invoicing and collection of grant revenues. In addition, this position is responsible for learning to prepare and maintain cash transaction reports, calculate cash flows and request draw downs of federal funds into DNR’s accounts.
Additional duties include the utilization of the Statewide accounting system, R*STARS, to establish grant tracking of transactions in the R*STARS system to account for all federal grant expenditures and receipts. Another responsibility is to monitor and review, in conjunction with DNR grant managers, reporting requirements to the various Federal agencies to ensure compliance with Federal requirements and individual grant stipulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: None.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute experience in grant evaluation and monitoring or budget preparation, presentation and execution at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
