Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exist is to collect the information needed to assess appropriate property tax values.  Primary work responsibilities may include: performing field inspections on various types of real estate including residential, farm, and commercial properties and business personal propertycompiling and enters data collected from field inspections into database for appraisal use; assisting tax payers, tax representatives, and other appraisers with questions relative to values and determination of property values; and performing other duties as assigned.  The Appraiser I classification is distinguished from the Appraiser II classification in that the Appraiser I classification collects field data for the determination of appraised value; final valuation decision duties are reserved for higher level Appraiser classifications.  Appraiser Is receive close guidance and direction from higher level Appraiser IIs & IIIs; supervision is provided by the Chief Appraiser.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a closely related field.

 

NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and an insurable driving record.  

WORK CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an office environment as well as out of the office, with frequent contact with individual home owners, business owners, contractors, and the general public.  Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements to include direct sun exposure, extreme heat and/or cold, rain, and lightning.
