To bring this mission to life, we're on the lookout for a dynamic, forward-thinking leader to join us as an Assistant County Administrator. This newly re-defined role reports to the Senior Deputy County Administrator and is a vital part of our County's executive leadership team.

Job Description

As the Assistant County Administrator, you'll be at the helm of exciting responsibilities, including:

  • Steering the ship for the Board of Supervisors' public meetings and processes.
  • Providing oversight and direction for one or more of the Offices within County Administration, such as the County's Legislative Program, guiding our state and federal lobbying initiatives.
  • Keeping the Board apprised of the work being done on their strategic goals.
  • Leading and coordinating pivotal County-wide projects and initiatives.
  • Managing the internal operations of the Office of the County Administrator, covering budget, personnel, and administration when the Senior Deputy County Administrator is away.

Compensation and Benefits:

The expected hiring range is $195,000-$230,000, depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. Relocation assistance in one lump sum of $10,000 will be provided if moving from outside a 40-mile radius of the County. Our comprehensive benefits package includes Multiple Group Health Plan Options; Dental, Vision, and Disability; Leave benefits including Annual Leave and Sick Leave accruals PLUS; Annual Leave equivalent to ten (10) days will be granted as of the date of hire; Personal Leave equivalent to ten (10) days will be granted as of the date of hire; Virginia Retirement System (VRS); Deferred Compensation Plan; Group Life Insurance; Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA); and wellness, education, and other benefits.

Job Requirements

  • A master's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
  • Six years of progressively responsible work experience, with at least two years in a supervisory or management role (or equivalent education and experience).
