Job Description

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full time Digital Forensics Examiner position located in the Forensic Services Unit.

The major job duties include the following:

  • Conducts forensic examination of computers, cell phones, and other electronic devices and media.
  • Maintains familiarity with a variety of digital technologies.
  • Supports crime scene investigations.
  • Manages forensic information system.
  • Completes forensic examination reports. Prepares and submits results of forensic examinations of electronic media; compiles and reports statistics on forensic examinations.
  • Contributes to forensic projects.
  • Liaisons with forensic examiners and others.
  • Supports evidentiary needs and courtroom testimony or proceedings.
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Hiring Salary commensurate with experience.

This position is not eligible for telework. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, digital forensics, computer science, or a related field; OR a bachelor's degree with at least 24 credit hours of coursework within the degree fields noted above AND two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position may be underfilled as a grade 124 Digital Forensics Examiner Trainee with the following minimum education and experience requirements. Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, digital forensics, computer science, or a related field; OR a bachelor's degree with at least 24 credit hours of coursework within the degree fields noted above; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Successfully complete Cellebrite Certified Operation (CCO) / Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA) or Magnet Certified Forensic Examiner (MCFE) Certifications within one (1) year of employment. Preference will be provided to applicants with certification/training related to forensic computer and/or mobile devices, such as, IACIS Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA), GIAC Certified Advanced Smartphone Forensics (GASF) are preferred.

This position is subject to call-out 24/7.
