Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of General Services, Management Services Division, seeks a detail-oriented, innovative, and qualified applicant for a full-time, long-term temporary Budget Analyst position in Leesburg, Virginia.

The Department of General Services (DGS) operates, maintains, and manages all County owned and leased facilities, acquires and manages the public safety and general vehicle fleet, oversees metro parking garages, and provides core internal support to all County agencies. DGS also directly supports residents through Transit and Commuter Services, the Stormwater Management Program, the Waste Management Program (including County landfill operations and recycling programs), the County Public Works, and Energy and Environmental Programs. As an integral part of the County's emergency response and recovery operations, DGS is designated as one of the "first responders" to major County emergencies resulting from natural or man-made disasters.

This position is housed in the Management Services Division, which provides services to all County departments and is a fast-paced, results-driven environment that depends upon a team approach to problem-solving. The Budget Analyst position is a team player focusing on monitoring the financial status of the department related to budgeting including developing, preparing, implementing, and monitoring the Operational expenses of the department, reconciliation of accounts, resolving discrepancies, approving purchases, performance measure reporting, preparing budget adjustments, and other duties as assigned. This role will also support grant-related activities whenever time permits, including tasks such as monitoring, aiding in reimbursement requests and annual closure, and facilitating the preparation of budget adjustments.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in the theory, principles, and practice of successfully managing budgets and grants through understanding financial budgeting, accounting, and management principles, and the ability to prepare detailed analyses. The successful candidate should also be organized, able to prioritize, multi-task, and manage job responsibilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are a must. Prior grant experience is highly preferred.

 

Salary commensurate with experience. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; four (4) years of related work experience in areas such as government, budget management, policy analysis, project management, grant management, or program evaluation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
