Job Description

 We're currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Recreation Center Manager. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, oversees and manages operations of all aspects of a Recreation and Community Center including a licensed preschool, a competition pool that hosts large swim meets, a leisure pool, a fitness room, a gymnasium, community rooms, and outdoor areas. This position will promote a culture that values employees and the general public and provides leadership and development to staff. A successful candidate is an effective communicator with experience and training in leadership, team and professional development, and progressive experience in facility management and aquatics experience. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, Ashburn, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manages Recreation and Community Center operations, maintenance, and programming and events. 
  • Manages staff training, hiring, onboarding, assessments, and discipline. • Manages budgeting, revenue, and expenditures. 
  • Provides long-range planning for the facility and develops marketing and communication plans. 
  • Provides customer service. 
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Work hours are weekdays and weekends between 5:00 am-10:00 pm including some holidays.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Leisure Service, Athletic Administration, or a related field depending on assigned area and four (4) years related work experience in program and facility management working with the public, groups, and organizations including one (1) year of supervisory experience managing a recreational program/center and staff and Six (6) months of experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities if required by Virginia's state licensing for a specific assigned position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of pool, fitness, and fee-based recreation programming. 
  • Knowledge of special needs for special populations depending on assigned areas. 
  • Knowledge of first aid methods and safety precautions. 
  • Skilled in using word processing and other data base programs. 
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others, including performance management and assessments.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass pre-employment fingerprinting, credit, DMV, and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. 
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. 
  • Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. 
  • First Aid/CPR and OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) certifications within 90 days of hire; hold or obtain certifications desired by Department for specific assigned area. 
  • Complete required supervisory training and County e-learning and MOAT training requirements as directed by department.
