The Loudoun County Department of Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Environmental Health Technical Specialist.
The Environmental Health Technical Specialist role involves working within the consumer service division with general supervision and serve as the District Standardization Officer (DSO) in the Food and General EH division.
Responsibilities include organizing, supervising, and evaluating program areas such as retail food safety, recreational water safety, Hotel and Motel, Schools, and others. Incumbent will also provide administrative review and technical supervision for information technology projects supporting environmental health. As the district DSO, will standardize all district Environmental Health Specialists. As well as contribute to the development of division goals and objectives, oversee compliance and enforcement actions, maintain EH databases, analyze data, and report findings. Building relationships with county, state, and federal agencies, as well as boards, is essential for strategic planning and achieving environmental health goals.
Salary Commensurate with Experience.
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Public Health, Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field; three (3) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist Certified Professional preferred.
Pass pre-employment background checks to include fingerprinting and DMV checks. Valid driver’s license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification); additional license if required by law for position or assigned department.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a certified pool operator license when required for job-related duties.
Must have completed training and maintain VDH Certified Food Safety Standardization officer credentials.
