Job Description

We're currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Senior Center Manager to manage and oversee the operations of a well and active Senior Center. This position, depending on the assigned area and center, oversees the planning and implementation of classes, special events, live performances, and programs/classes at centers for seniors; develops marketing plans and promotes events; oversees facility repairs and safety protocols; manages related plans, budget, and staff; and performs community outreach activities. Successful candidates will have excellent customer service, listening, and quick-thinking skills. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Ashburn Senior Center, Ashburn, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Center in accordance with policies and procedures of the local, state, and federal government. 
  • Supervise Center Staff. 
  • Implements Center programs and events and works with other managers and coordinators. 
  • Develops a management plan and budget for the program. 
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

*Work hours Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00 pm, and Saturday 8:00 am-12:00 pm *

Salary commensurate with experience

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, or related field depending on assigned area. Three (3) years related work experience in program and facility management working with the public, groups, and organizations including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four or more years working with older adults. 
  • A Master's degree in social work, Gerontology, or related human service field. 
  • At least two years of supervising three or more staff.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass background checks to include fingerprinting, criminal, credit, and Child Protective Services (CPS) checks. 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire; MAT training, First Aid/CPR/AED, and ServSafe certifications within 90 days of hire. 
  • Complete County e-learning, MOAT, and supervisory training as required.
  • Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
