Job Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Manager of Compliance, the Compliance Specialist operates the incident reporting system, facilitates incident review and follow-up, coordinates compliance activities, and provides staff training. This position maintains data collection on incidents, investigations, and root cause analysis; submits required documentation on behalf of MHSADS; attends the Behavior Plan Review Committee; and represents MHSADS with various committees and regulatory organizations.

In addition to the primary responsibilities listed above the Compliance Specialist shall assist the Compliance Program by:

  • Conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Coordinating audit requests from regulatory agencies and is the liaison between department staff and auditors regarding requests for documentation and site visits.
  • Providing workforce documentation, incident reporting, and regulation training.
  • Collecting incident report, investigation, and root cause analysis data daily.
  • Completing Corrective Actions Plans for regulatory agencies and monitors for effective implementation. 
  • Using and developing internal auditing tools; compiling, analyzing, and reporting audit results to senior leadership. 
  • Creates in-depth reports from the health record to review high-risk incidents. 
  • Attending the Local Human Rights Committee on behalf of Loudoun County MHSADS.
  • Navigating and using computers and technology, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record, to analyze and present data.
  • Skillfully communicating ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • On a rotating schedule, provide remote on-call support for compliance activities. 

The full compensation range for this position is provided. Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related work experience in mental health, substance abuse, and/or developmental services field in the public sector or similar field serving adults and youth with mental health, substance use, and/or intellectual/developmental needs including one (1) year of experience conducting health and human services investigations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Prefer:

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional - Adult (A) or Child (C) certificate (QMHP-A and/or QMHP-C).

Special Requirements

  • This is an office-based position with the potential for a hybrid schedule according to the Loudoun County Telework Policy.

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
