As a certified lifeguard, you will employ your skills to do important and meaningful work critical to the safety and wellness of our diverse communities. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, monitors aquatic activities to ensure participant safety and performs rescues as necessary for water sports or pool environments for participants and facility users of all ages and backgrounds. A successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and self-motivation. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following locations: 

• Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, South Riding, VA 
• Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA 
• Round Hill Aquatic Center, Round Hill, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Monitors the use of aquatic facilities and equipment to ensure visitor and participant safety within the facility and compliance with applicable safety policies and practices. 
• Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment. 
• Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury and provides emergency care and treatment as required. 
• Enforces pool rules and provides customer service to County staff, facility visitors, and users. 
• May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

High school diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Six (6) months of lifeguard experience. 
• Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid Certification

• Pass a pre-employment criminal background check. 
• Possess Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Certification, and CPR within required timeframes. 
• Requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds frequently.
