Loudoun County's Department of Finance and Budget, Accounting Division, is seeking a Capital Projects Accountant to join the Capital projects accounting team at our County Government Center office in Leesburg, VA.

For this regular, full-time position, the Capital Projects Accountant will be detail-oriented, have strong analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. The Capital projects accounting team is responsible for managing the financial accounting for the County's 400+ Capital projects. This includes project set up, project account management, analysis of capital funds and the various revenue sources for Capital Improvement Program (CIP), project classification and close out, monitoring the Capital funds for compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and assisting the in the annual audit, year-end close and financial reporting process. Additional responsibilities include collaborating cross departmentally on complex project issues, providing support for ad-hoc projects and analysis, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, researching, and preparing work papers and analysis to support the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and contributing to other department areas as needed or assigned. This position reports to the Capital Projects Senior Accountant.

A successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of governmental accounting, capital project accounting, and will have experience preparing journal entries, accounting transactions, and reconciliations.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

This position is eligible for telework in accordance with the County's Telework Policy.

Job Requirements

Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in professional level accounting, preferably in a government accounting setting. Experience working with a major ERP system such as Oracle is preferred.
