We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Recreation Center Operations Manager. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor will manage the facility operations and maintenance work plan to ensure efficient and effective building operations and maintenance, and customer satisfaction by providing a safe clean, secure, and aesthetically pleasing environment. Manages expenditure budget, ensuring program needs are met and all purchasing is completed within established policies and procedures. A successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, effective communication, teamwork, time management, and motivation. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following locations: 

  • Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA
  • Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manages budget and expenses of program and function. 
  • Oversees Recreation Center staffing, interviews and recommends hiring new staff as needed, and maintains staff records.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the Aquatics facility and the Center facility. 
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

*A flexible schedule will be required, including early mornings, days, nights, and weekends to oversee program needs*

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree; three (3) years of related work experience in recreation programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements


  • Knowledge of computer operations including word processing and related office applications, software applications, and databases used by the Department. 
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions at work. 
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for designated duties.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass pre-employment fingerprinting, credit, Child Protective Services (CPS), and DMV background checks. 
  • Valid driver's license. 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. 
  • First Aid/CPR and OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) certifications within 90 days of hire; hold or obtain certifications desired by Department for specific assigned area.
  • Complete supervisory training.
