We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager oversees customer use of facilities; analyzes data collected to ensure effective use, operations, and rental of facilities. This position also supports recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising staff, fiscal budgeting and monitoring Center's expenses and revenue by developing, promoting, and implementing diverse and inclusive programming. A successful candidate will be an effective communicator, motivator, team-oriented, adaptable, and organized. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following locations: 

  • Sterling Community Center, Sterling, VA 
  • Bluemont Community Center, Bluemont, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assists the Center Manager in the day-to-day management of the Community Center. 
  • Plans, coordinates, schedules, supervises, and evaluates the operations, maintenance, and programs of the Community Center. 
  • Provides customer service and administrative and management support to front desk operations; ensures Community Centers policies and procedures are followed; and maintains staffing schedules. 
  • Coordinates the implementation of licensed programs. 
  • Coordinates rental of the facility and conducts outreach within the community. 
  • Reports maintenance problems, completes safety checklists, and logs, and conducts regular oversight of the facility. 
  • Assists customers of the Center with class registrations, payments, room scheduling, and other needs as per guidelines; maintains current knowledge of County, Department, and Center programs to provide information to the public. 
  • Assists with Advisory Board meetings, activities, and recruitment of members. 
  • Manages program resources; assesses program effectiveness, efficiency, outcomes, and quality.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Leisure Services, or a related field depending on the assigned area and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in community-based program coordination and facility management, including one (1) year of supervisory experience, working with the public, special populations, groups, or organizations.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish depending on location. 
  • Knowledge of recreation programs. 
  • Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Education, or a related field. 
  • Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs with an emphasis on community-based recreation activities. 
  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and various computer programs used by the Department.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Criminal background, DMV, credit checks, and Child Protective Services (CPS) checks are required. 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire: OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire. 
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications within 90 days of hire. 
  • Desire Certified Parks Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification and hold or obtain certifications desired by Department for a specific assigned area.
