Job Description

We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Special Events Coordinator. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, performs supervisory and administrative work overseeing staff, planning, and developing regional and countywide events for all age groups including events supporting tournaments and The Lodge at Hanson Park, a 300-seat events center located within Hal and Bernie Hanson Regional Park. The successful candidate should possess excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and project management skills. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location:

  • PRCS, 742 Miller Drive SE, Leesburg, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Plan and execute countywide PRCS special events including planning, implementation, contract management, logistics, staffing, marketing, and evaluation. 
  • Develops and utilizes special events preparation checklists.
  • Coordinates and monitors special events. 
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing fiscal resources, staff, programs and activities, event planning, administrative and personnel functions, safety inspections, and promotion of events.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a field related; two (2) years of related work experience including one year (1) of lead or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and understanding of event planning and execution principles and techniques. 
  • Knowledge of basic accounting as related to budget preparation and management. 
  • Certification as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Event and Festival Executive (CEFE) preferred.
