The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Turfgrass Programs Specialist to manage athletic turf program county-wide. In addition to creating and managing a turf care program, the Turfgrass Programs Specialist will supervise staff and contractors. A successful candidate will have leadership skills, supervisory skills, teamwork skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversees turfgrass management and develops the turfgrass management program.
• Conducts technical turfgrass studies, research, and soil analysis for turfgrass management and weed and pest
control.
• Develops, updates, and review specific turfgrass management programs for individual locations and sites.
• Completes maintenance and repairs with appropriate tools and materials.
• Maintains record and reports of maintenance of fields and recreational areas.
• Inspects, maintains, and repairs work facilities, vehicles, equipment machinery, and tools.

Associate degree in turfgrass management or horticulture; three (3) years of related work experience in turfgrass management or horticulture; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in turf grass management, horticulture, or related field is preferred
• Criminal background, credit checks and DMV records check required.
• Certified Pesticide Commercial Applicator required.
• Obtain a Class “A” CDL with passenger, airbrake, and/or tanker endorsements within (6) months of hire depending
on job assignment.
