Job Description

Loudoun County's Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI) is seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual to serve as a Transportation Engineering Specialist within the department's Transportation Planning Program.

Job duties include:

  • The review and assessment of land development applications.
  • Assistance with database management.
  • Efficient and effective problem resolution. 
  • Timely and professional customer service to citizens, developers, and other County staff members.
  • working closely with senior staff members to facilitate the achievement of departmental goals.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • The ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to handle multiple time sensitive assignments in a team environment.
  • Thorough research skills.

This position requires general knowledge of civil and transportation engineering practices (this includes the ability to read and interpret engineering plans), general knowledge of transportation planning concepts (including the ability to read and interpret results from traffic impact studies), and strong project management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Knowledge of microsimulation traffic modeling software, CAD and GIS is a plus.

 

Salary commensurate with experience. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

This position requires occasional attendance at evening/night meetings, as well as a valid driver's license.
