The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to join our team. The position of a temporary, on-call Residential Support Professional works within Residential Services providing meaningful support and services to people in Group Homes and Supervised Living settings.
Successful candidates will be orientated to and have knowledge of person-centered and recovery-oriented treatment models. This position will provide community based residential services to adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Typical job duties associated with this position include but are not limited to; assistance and skill building for Activities of Daily Living including personal hygiene, medication management, general supervision, and behavior support. Additionally, this position provides input for assessing individuals’ needs and is responsible for the implementation of individual service plans, documentation, and data collection.
This position also works to ensure the health, safety, and the overall well-being of the individuals served. Must be able to wear County-issued N-95 mask and other personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shield, mask, apron, gown, gloves, etc. The work schedule requires evening, overnight, weekend, and some day hours. Education and career development are highly supported.
Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, or other human services field; (1) year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal background, driving record check, credit check and TB test. Must have a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
