Job Description

We're seeking qualified applicants to fill the preschool Teacher position. This (10) month position provides learning activities for preschool children; establishes and enforces basic rules to maintain classroom order, promotes physical, mental, and social development through games, arts, crafts, music, and field trips. A successful candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to discuss the development of children with parents and plans assignment for Preschool Aides. Our team embraces the uniqueness of each child, inclusive of all individual abilities or needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans and provides varied, educational, and recreational activities to meet all preschool children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs.
  • Supervises children's behaviors, communication, and involvement.
  • Adheres to staff-to-student ratios.
  • Follows established policies, procedures, interactions, and disciplinary issues.
  • Ensures the health and safety of children in the program and performs daily health checks. 
  • Ensures toys and equipment are safe for children. 
  • Handling of food and food service items. 
  • Reports incidents and follows emergency protocols. 
  • Communicates with parents, staff, and site school personnel and participates in team meetings. 
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment. 

Work schedule will vary from Monday to Friday, August to June.

  • South Riding 

Some positions may qualify for partial benefits depending on the number of hours per week assigned. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; six (6) months programmatic experience with children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be physically able to keep up with participants and lift 50 pounds.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One-year programmatic experience, including previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Child Development Association (CDA) certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background and child protective services check. 
  • Must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire. 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. 
  • Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire. 
  • MAT/EMAT training within 90 days of hire. 
  • Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
